Discover how Chiropractic care has shown to help reduce the symptoms of Asthma and COPD, as well as to improve Respiratory function

The World Health Organization reports that the most widely recognized chronic respiratory diseases are asthma, pulmonary hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Others include hypertension in the arteries that connect the heart and lungs. Despite these conditions having the possibility to pass through hereditary qualities, how you live your life can also affect these diseases. Dangers may arise from with exposure to second-hand smoke, abnormal amounts of air contamination, and chemicals found in different work or home environments. Clearly, genes are genes, and removing these harmful toxins can help you avoid the development of long-based diseases.

Chiropractic Methods and Effectiveness

“The most widely recognized chronic respiratory diseases are asthma, pulmonary hypertension, and COPD.”

One investigation has found that another way to keep your lungs breathing easier is with regular chiropractic visits. In September of 2016, the Journal of Physical Therapy Science released an investigation including 30 subjects between the ages of 20 and 38 who were not presently being treated for respiratory diseases, nor were they encountering any pain in their thoracic region. Half were randomly alloted to an experimental group, which is the group that received spinal-manipulation therapy. The second group was allocated to the control, getting fake treatment.

At the beginning of the investigation, each subject’s respiratory function was tested and recorded. Roughly ten minutes after, contingent upon which group the individual was in, they received high-velocity, low-amplitude control adjustments to the thoracic region of the spine or sham chiropractic. Respiratory testing took place promptly following the real or sham chiropractic session. After studying the information gathered, researchers noticed that the group receiving real chiropractic care had “significantly increased” their forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in one second. The gathering that received fake chiropractic care showed no difference in their respiratory function.

What was Discovered

Participating in exercise can promote a better respiratory function.

These discoveries propose that chiropractic care has a more critical role in healthy respiratory function than many people figure. This data may prove useful to patients who have encountered chronic respiratory issues and are searching for relief. However, it may work to diminish the probability of lung-related diseases in any situation.

As the COPD Foundation explains, “once lung function is gone, it is gone for good.” This is the reason they suggest taking part in exercises which can promote a higher lung capacity. This includes: participating in exercises, performing physically demanding exercises during times when breathing is easier, and staying inside when extreme temperatures are expected or pollution is high.
