Discover the 5 ways Chiropractic Care Benefits Pregnancy

Learn how Chiropractic Care can help reduce back and joint pain in expectant women, in addition to promoting a faster recovery time after pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a joyous time in an expectant mother’s life. Albeit exciting, women experience a lot of changes as the infant develops. The back, neck and joints are the different sections of the body that have a tendency to endure the most pain during pregnancy. Alongside an OBGYN, a chiropractor is a beneficial addition to a woman’s pre-natal care team. Chiropractors can help oversee and address back and joint pain issues, with the goal that they don’t turn into an issue during the delivery, or, effect a woman’s recovery time post-pregnancy. Here are 5 key ways chiropractors can be of assistance.

1. Chiropractors can Align the Spine

Chiropractic care amid pregnancy helps to keep the spine aligned and every supporting ligament working properly.

Pregnancy adds a significant amount of extra weight to a woman’s body in a short span of time. This change weighs on the spine, much of the time causing misalignment. When this occurs, the pain can be overwhelming. Chiropractic care amid pregnancy helps to keep the spine aligned and every supporting ligament working properly. This helps to better prepare the spine to help support the additional weight of an infant.

2. Chiropractors relieve pain naturally

Chiropractic adjustments reduce the issues that cause pain during pregnancy, allowing the patient to depend less on drugs.

Under most circumstances, women experiencing moderate pain pop two or three over the counter pain relievers and barely bat an eyelash at the idea of it. However, pregnant women try to stay away from pharmaceutical medications when possible. Chiropractic adjustments reduce the issues that cause pain, allowing the patient to depend less on drugs. Experiencing less pain, while also reducing the need for over-the-counter medication is a win-win for the pregnancy.

3. Chiropractic Care strengthens Joints

Chiropractors work to heal already damaged or stressed zones in a woman’s body as a result of her pregnancy.

Pregnancy really affects an expectant mother’s joints. Chiropractic care for pregnant women is a positive approach to limiting the impact that a large abdomen has on one’s hips, legs, and ankles. Regarding the entirety of the body, chiropractic care attempts to reinforce the body. In addition, treatments also work to heal already damaged or stressed zones.

4. Chiropractic Care helps achieve Pelvic Alignment

An aligned pelvis is essential to the birthing process, and helps to increase the odds of a successful pregnancy

Helping the birthing process go smoothly,  an aligned pelvis is essential to the birthing process, and helps to increase the odds of a successful natural birth. As per the American Pregnancy Association, “When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery. This can affect the mother’s ability to have a natural, non-invasive birth.” An experienced chiropractor can adequately adjust the pelvis before birth. This will allow the mother’s pregnancy end without incident.

5. Chiropractic Care promotes Recovery

Women participating in Chiropractic care during a pregnancy can expect a quicker recovery time after the infant is born.

The healthier and stronger a woman’s body is both before and during pregnancy, the easier it is to get back into shape once the child is born. Eating right and effectively exercising are beneficial approaches to accomplishing this. Chiropractic care is an essential component to wellness. Expectant women who benefit from chiropractic care appreciate better posture, less pain, and increased mobility, particularly late into the third trimester.

This enables women to continue with exercise, as well as being active, longer than those with back and joint pain. After the birth, it becomes less of a struggle to get into a workout routine, if the new mother’s joints, back, and hips are adjusted and working appropriately. Chiropractic care can serve to diminish pain and promote the general heath of expectant and new mothers, giving her a chance to unwind and concentrate on the more enjoyable parts of pregnancy. Women who participate in chiropractic care can anticipate a strengthened body, the possibility of a smoother pregnancy, and a quicker recovery time after the infant is born.

How Holistic Chiropractic Care Cured a Patient with Epileptic Seizures

Learn how one woman went from having 2 seizures a week, to 0 seizures in 6 months.

As defined in 2016 by the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research, Epilepsy is defined as, “a chronic neurological condition that is characterized by recurrent unprovoked epileptic seizures.” Sadly, 8 to 10 percent of the population is expected to experience a seizure at some time in their life, with 3 percent of the population developing epilepsy. With such devastating numbers and so few answers to this damaging chronic illness, many may find comfort in a recent case study performed on a 23 year old woman, who’s epileptic seizures went from two a week, to 0 in six months using Holistic Chiropractic Care.

Traditional Treatment of Seizures

Variety of pharmaceutical drugs used to represent the most common treatment of epileptic seizures.

Pharmaceutical Drugs continue to be the most common way to treat epileptic seizures.

Traditionally, epilepsy is treated using a variety of drugs. Unfortunately, 30 percent of patients treated using prescription drugs are not monitored, with dosages either being too low, or too high for many. If patients are given the proper dosage of pharmaceutical medication, few live without the unintended side-effects, ranging from anxiety, depression, migraines, allergies, etc. Given the drastic repercussions due to the use of pharmaceutical drugs, many have turned to alternative treatments of their epilepsy, in this case, Holistic Chiropractic Care.

About the Patient

Here, we meet the woman from the case study, a 23 year old suffering from grand-mal seizures since turning 21 years of age. Since having her first seizure, this patient’s frequency increased from two a month to two a week. Additionally, her records informed us that within the first year of chronic seizures, she had lost approximately 50 pounds and suffered from severe fatigue, memory loss, allergies, anxiety and depression. To treat these symptoms, Doctors began prescribing medications for these side effects, all while still issuing a strong dose of epileptic medication. Unfortunately, the 21 year old woman continued to suffer at the hand of chronic seizures, averaging 2 per week, with no signs of improvement due to prescribed medicine.

Diagnosing the Problem

Many seizures come from abnormal signals from the brain change the way the body functions.

To discover the source of these seizures, Doctors began a series of tests, including bothchiropractic and physical examinations. These tests included: spinal x-rays, palpation, and a postural analysis. From these examinations, Doctors were able to determine that the source of this woman’s Epileptic seizures stemmed from abnormal posture, chronic subluxations in the cervical, thoracic, and pelvic areas, and temporal lobe epilepsy.

Treating the Patient

Holistic Chiropractic Care may be the answer to some, but not all persons living with seizures.

Upon discovery of these treatable ailments, Holistic Chiropractic Care began. At first, Doctors began with a visiting schedule of 3 times per week. This included adjustments specific to treating the patient’s posture, as well as chronic subluxations. Two months into her treatment and the patient noticed the disappearance of both her depression and anxiety. Even better, the 23 year old noted overall improvement and began taking herself off of her previously prescribed medications. With each month came continual improvement, until at her six month evaluation, where the patient was cured of herepilepsy, and freed of all medication.
